Get Involved — Volunteer!
When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved! Your help is needed!
**This is a unique year for HEPTA as our services will not be needed as they have been in the past. If you are a returning volunteer, please fill out the volunteer form and drop it off or send it to the SAU office. If you are a volunteer who is unable to volunteer this academic year, you will remain on the list for the 2021-22 school year so that you do not fall off of the master list of volunteers.
First-time Volunteers! Please start the approval process ASAP as it takes about 30 days and you can not volunteer until all steps are completed. Incoming Kindergarten parents and those who would like to volunteer starting in the Fall! You can start this process NOW (we recommend you start by the mid- July at the latest) to ensure you are set to go for the start of school.
Step 1 - Go to: https://www.sau41.org/hr-
Step 2: You will then be given the volunteer packet by Carrie Marsh, SAU 41 HR's director, with the next steps. In order to volunteer at Field Day or Field Trips, etc you must get fingerprinted at the police station and have a background check completed (cost of $20.75).
Step 3: Once the background check is completed, Carrie will email you with a link to complete an annual online volunteer training.
Step 4: You are then added to the master list of fully approved HEPTA volunteers and are able to participate in any volunteer opportunity presented at SAU 41 schools! On an annual basis, you only need to fill out a 1 pg renewal form and complete the online training.
We have a volunteer interest form (must be logged in to access) that lists ongoing volunteer opportunities and specific openings to lead one-time initiatives at our schools. Once you complete that volunteer form, the chairperson of each committee will reach out with specific details and you can decide if and how you want to become involved. This form closed onOctober10, 2020 to connect volunteers with opportunities. Please email Lexy at president@603hepta.org if you missed filling out the interest form and want to get involved.
In previous years, volunteers helped out by:
-Signing up to serve lunch monthly (commit to the first Wednesday of each month for example): You assist serving lunch for all grades and receive a free hot lunch and are able to sit with your child(ren) to eat.
- Joining the Hospitality Committee: You receive emails whenever food, drinks, or baked goods are needed for an all-staff meeting, teacher appreciation week, or HEPTA fundraiser. Sign up to purchase/make and drop off the items when needed. We also added the ability to donate funds in lieu of baked goods this year as that option has been requested by several parents.
-Leading New Initiatives! Movie Night, the Flashlight Egg Hunt, and BINGO night are all examples of parents coming to HEPTA and saying "I'd love to organize this event for a Family Fun Night!"
